At the end of this episode the hosts answered a question from a listener on the subject of prayer. While I do agree with the hosts that practicing gratefulness is an excellent use of prayer time, I would like to expand on their answer from my own experience. In my own practice I like to take prayer as a time to set my intentions, cultivate my attitudes, and focus on others. So I do not ask the divine for something per se however I do use a divine framework to internalize compassion, love, and the well being of others. It’s very similar to Metta and I think it is compatible with Taoist philosophy.
